Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, dry, well-ventilated surface.

  1. Position unit: Ensure charger is on a flat, non-flammable surface away from battery.
  2. Connect AC power: Plug power cord into a grounded 120V AC outlet. Display will light up.
  3. Prepare battery: Ensure battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
  4. Connect clamps: FIRST connect red clamp to positive (+) battery terminal. THEN connect black clamp to negative (-) terminal or vehicle chassis ground.

WARNING! Always connect clamps in correct order to prevent sparks. Ensure area is well-ventilated. Keep away from flames or sparks.

First-Time Setup

After connecting to battery and AC power, follow these steps.

  1. Power on: Unit will power on automatically when plugged in. Display will show battery voltage.
  2. Select battery type: Press the BATTERY TYPE button to cycle through options (STD, AGM, GEL, DEEP CYCLE). Match to your battery.
  3. Select charge mode: Press 10A CHARGE for normal charging or 2A MAINTAIN for long-term maintenance.
  4. Start charging: The charger will automatically begin the multi-stage charging process. Monitor display for status.

CAUTION! Do not select ENGINE START mode unless attempting to start a vehicle. Ensure all connections are secure before starting.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access functions via front panel buttons and digital display.

Front Panel: POWER (automatic with AC plug), BATTERY TYPE, 50A ENGINE START, 10A CHARGE, 2A MAINTAIN, RECONDITION.

Display Indicators: Battery Voltage, Charging Amps, Mode Icon, Battery Type Icon, Error Codes (E1-E4).

Settings: Battery Type Selection (cycle with button), Charge Mode Selection (press desired rate), Recondition Mode (initiates recovery cycle for sulfated batteries). The microprocessor automatically controls charging stages based on battery condition.

Connecting to Batteries

For charging or maintaining a battery installed in a vehicle or on a bench.

  1. Turn off charger and vehicle ignition before connecting.
  2. Connect red clamp to positive (+) battery terminal.
  3. Connect black clamp to negative (-) battery terminal or a clean, unpainted metal part of the chassis.
  4. Plug AC cord into outlet. Display will activate.
  5. Select battery type and charge mode.

Tip: For a battery removed from vehicle, connect clamps directly to terminals. Ensure charger is off during connection.

Charging Modes

Supports automatic multi-stage charging for optimal battery health.

  1. 10A CHARGE Mode: For typical charging. Includes Bulk (constant current), Absorption (constant voltage), Analysis (tests battery), Float/Maintenance (maintains full charge).
  2. 2A MAINTAIN Mode: For long-term maintenance of fully charged batteries (e.g., seasonal vehicles, RVs). Provides a low, steady trickle charge.
  3. RECONDITION Mode: For recovering sulfated batteries. Press and hold RECONDITION button for 3 seconds to initiate. This is a slow, controlled process.
  4. Automatic Completion: Charger automatically switches to Float/Maintenance when battery is fully charged. Display will indicate "FULL" or "MAINT."

WARNING! Do not use Recondition mode on a healthy battery unnecessarily. Always monitor the battery during reconditioning.

Engine Start Function

50A ENGINE START mode provides a boost to help start a vehicle with a weak battery.

  1. Ensure charger is connected to battery correctly (red to +, black to - or chassis).
  2. Plug charger into AC outlet.
  3. Press the 50A ENGINE START button. Display will show "ENG START" and amperage.
  4. Attempt to start the vehicle within 5 minutes. Do not crank for more than 3-5 seconds at a time.
  5. After starting, immediately press the 50A ENGINE START button again to exit the mode. Unplug AC cord and remove clamps in reverse order (black first, then red).

CAUTION! This is for intermittent starting assistance only, not for continuous charging. Do not leave in ENGINE START mode for more than 5 minutes.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug from AC and battery before cleaning. Wipe exterior with a dry cloth. Keep vents clear of dust and debris. Store in a cool, dry place.

CAUTION! Do not use liquids or aerosols to clean. Do not submerge any part of the charger. Inspect cables and clamps regularly for damage.
