Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Use only as specified.

  1. Use in well-ventilated area; keep away from sparks, flames, and metal surfaces.
  2. Do not disassemble charger; risk of electric shock.
  3. Connect to battery before plugging into AC outlet.
  4. Ensure battery clamps make solid contact with terminals.
  5. Do not charge frozen or damaged batteries.

WARNING! Risk of explosion or fire. Follow connection sequence: Battery first, then AC power. Disconnect in reverse order.

Installation & Connection

Proper connection ensures safe and effective charging.

  1. Identify battery terminals: Positive (+) usually red; Negative (-) usually black.
  2. Connect RED clamp to battery POSITIVE (+) terminal.
  3. Connect BLACK clamp to battery NEGATIVE (-) terminal or vehicle chassis ground.
  4. Plug AC power cord into 120V, 60Hz outlet.
  5. LED will illuminate indicating charging mode.

CAUTION! Ensure clamps do not touch each other or metal surfaces after connection to battery.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

Unit features a single multi-color LED status indicator.

LED Status Guide:

No user controls; operation is fully automatic once connected.

Charging Process

The microprocessor follows a 4-stage process:

  1. Initialization: Tests battery condition and voltage. If voltage is too low, charger may not start.
  2. Bulk Charge: Delivers constant 1A current until battery reaches ~80% capacity (LED Solid Red).
  3. Absorption Charge: Voltage held constant, current tapers as battery nears 100% (LED may remain Solid Red).
  4. Float Maintenance: Reduces voltage to safe level to maintain full charge indefinitely without overcharging (LED Solid Green).

Note: A deeply discharged battery may take 24+ hours to reach full charge.

Maintenance Mode

After full charge, charger switches to Float Mode (Solid Green LED). It monitors voltage and provides a trickle charge as needed to counteract self-discharge. Safe for long-term connection (weeks/months). Ideal for seasonal vehicles (boats, motorcycles, RVs), lawn equipment, and stored batteries.

Compatibility

Compatible Batteries: 12V Lead-Acid types including Standard Flooded (Wet), AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), and Gel Cell. Commonly used for motorcycles, ATVs, lawn tractors, snowmobiles, jet skis, classic cars, and marine applications.

Not Compatible: 6V batteries, Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, or any non-lead-acid chemistry. Do not use for automotive starting battery charging (use higher amp charger).

Care & Storage

Unplug and disconnect from battery before cleaning. Wipe with dry cloth. Store in cool, dry place. Inspect cables and clamps periodically for damage.

CAUTION! Do not immerse in water or use harsh chemicals. Keep vents clear of debris.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
LED does not lightNo AC power; bad connectionCheck outlet; ensure plugs are secure; reconnect clamps.
Flashing Green LEDReverse polarity connectionDisconnect immediately. Connect RED to (+), BLACK to (-).
Flashing Red LEDBattery voltage too low or battery faultyCheck battery voltage (< 3V may be unrecoverable). Try on known good battery.
Solid Red LED for extended timeLarge or deeply discharged batteryNormal; charging may take 24+ hours. Allow process to complete.
Charger gets warmNormal operation during bulk chargeEnsure vents are not blocked. If excessively hot, disconnect and contact support.
Battery not holding chargeBattery may be sulfated or end-of-lifeTest battery with load tester. Charger cannot revive all dead batteries.

Reset: Disconnect from AC and battery for 2 minutes, then reconnect.
