Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. For lead-acid batteries only.

  1. Work in a well-ventilated area; keep away from sparks, flames, and smoking.
  2. Wear eye protection and protective clothing.
  3. Ensure charger is unplugged from AC outlet before connecting/disconnecting clamps.
  4. Connect red clamp (+) to positive battery terminal, black clamp (-) to negative terminal or vehicle chassis.
  5. Do not charge a frozen battery or one with damaged casing.

WARNING! Risk of explosive gases. Do not use near batteries during charging. Keep children and pets away.

First-Time Setup & Operation

Plug charger into standard 120V AC outlet.

  1. Prepare battery: Ensure battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
  2. Connect clamps: FIRST connect red clamp to positive (+) terminal. THEN connect black clamp to negative (-) terminal or unpainted metal on chassis.
  3. Plug in charger: Connect AC power cord to outlet. Charger will automatically detect battery voltage and begin charging.
  4. Monitor LEDs: Refer to indicator lights for charging status.
  5. Disconnect: When charging is complete, unplug AC cord first, then remove black clamp, then red clamp.

CAUTION! Always connect/disconnect in the correct order to prevent sparks.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

Unit features LED indicator lights to show status.

LED Indicators:

The charger is fully automatic; no manual controls or settings are required for standard operation.

Charging Procedures

For standard charging of a discharged battery.

  1. Ensure area is ventilated and battery is at room temperature.
  2. Connect clamps in correct order (Red first to +, Black to -).
  3. Plug charger into wall outlet. POWER LED will light.
  4. CHARGING LED will light red. Charger will automatically select correct voltage and begin multi-stage charging.
  5. When battery reaches full charge, CHARGING LED will turn off and MAINTENANCE LED will light green.
  6. Charger will now maintain the battery at optimal voltage indefinitely until disconnected.
  7. To disconnect, unplug AC cord first, then remove clamps (Black first, then Red).

Tip: For deeply discharged batteries, charging may take several hours to a full day.

Maintenance Mode

After full charge, the SC1308 automatically switches to Float/Maintenance mode. This supplies a small, steady voltage to keep the battery at 100% charge without overcharging. It is safe to leave the charger connected to a battery in maintenance mode for extended periods (weeks or months), making it ideal for seasonal vehicles, boats, or lawn equipment.

Care & Storage

Unplug and disconnect from battery before cleaning. Wipe exterior with a dry cloth. Store in a cool, dry place. Keep clamps clean and free of corrosion.

CAUTION! Do not immerse in water or use liquid cleaners. Inspect cords and clamps periodically for damage.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
No LED lights when plugged inNo AC power / Faulty outletCheck wall outlet; ensure charger is firmly plugged in. Try a different outlet.
FAULT LED flashingReverse connection / Bad batteryUnplug charger. Disconnect clamps. Ensure correct connection order (Red to +, Black to -). Battery may be damaged or unusable.
CHARGING LED stays on for daysVery large or deeply discharged batteryThis is normal. Allow charging to continue. If battery does not accept charge after 48 hours, it may be defective.
Charger gets warmNormal operationSome warmth is normal during charging. Ensure vents are not blocked.
Battery not holding chargeBattery may be at end of lifeThe charger maintains a healthy battery but cannot revive a dead or sulfated one. Test battery with a load tester.

Reset: Unplug charger from AC and battery for 2 minutes to reset microprocessor.
