Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Failure to follow may cause injury or damage.

  1. Use in well-ventilated area: Batteries produce explosive gases.
  2. Wear eye protection: Shield eyes when working near batteries.
  3. Do not charge frozen battery: Thaw before charging.
  4. Disconnect AC power before connecting/disconnecting clamps.
  5. Connect positive (red) clamp to battery positive (+) terminal first.
  6. Connect negative (black) clamp to battery negative (-) terminal or vehicle chassis.
  7. Keep charger dry: Do not expose to rain or moisture.

WARNING! Risk of explosion. Do not smoke or use open flames near battery. Keep sparks away.

Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure charger is off and unplugged.

  1. Place charger on stable, dry surface near battery.
  2. Plug AC cord into 120V outlet (do not turn on yet).
  3. Connect clamps: Red to battery positive (+), black to negative (-) or chassis ground.
  4. Ensure connections are secure and metal-to-metal.
  5. Power on charger: Unit will automatically detect battery voltage.

CAUTION! Do not connect to a dead battery with voltage below 3V. May require manual reset.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

Front Panel: POWER button, MODE button, Digital display, Status LEDs.

Display Indicators: Battery voltage (e.g., 12.6V), Charge status (Charging, Full, Fault), Error codes (E1, E2, E3).

Status LEDs: Power (green), Charging (flashing yellow), Full (solid green), Fault (red).

Mode Button: Toggles between Charge mode (default) and Maintenance mode.

Charge Mode: Full 8-amp charge until battery reaches full voltage, then switches to float.

Maintenance Mode: Low current trickle charge to maintain battery during storage.

Charging Procedure

Follow steps for safe and effective charging.

  1. Ensure battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.
  2. Connect clamps as described in Installation.
  3. Plug charger into AC outlet.
  4. Press POWER button: Display will show battery voltage and "Charging".
  5. Charger automatically selects 6V or 12V and begins multi-stage charging.
  6. Monitor display: Flashing yellow LED indicates charging in progress.
  7. When full: Solid green LED, display shows "Full" or battery voltage (e.g., 12.6V for 12V).
  8. To disconnect: Press POWER to turn off, unplug AC cord, remove black clamp first, then red.

Tip: For deeply discharged batteries, charging may take several hours. Do not leave unattended for extended periods.

Maintenance Mode

Use for long-term battery storage (e.g., winter months).

  1. Connect charger to battery as normal.
  2. Press MODE button until "Maintenance" appears on display.
  3. Charger will apply a low trickle current (approx. 0.8A) to keep battery at full charge.
  4. LED will pulse green when in maintenance mode.
  5. Can be left connected indefinitely (with AC power).

Note: Maintenance mode is not for charging dead batteries. Use Charge mode first.

Care & Storage

Unplug and clean after each use. Store in dry, cool location.

  1. Wipe exterior with dry cloth; do not use liquids.
  2. Inspect cables for cracks or damage; replace if needed.
  3. Coil cords loosely; avoid sharp bends.
  4. Store in original box or protective case.

CAUTION! Do not store near heat sources or flammable materials. Keep away from children.
