Safety Instructions

Read all instructions before use. Working with batteries involves risks.

  1. Use in well-ventilated area: Batteries produce explosive gases.
  2. Wear eye protection: Shield eyes when working near batteries.
  3. Remove jewelry: Avoid short circuits from metal contact.
  4. Check battery condition: Do not charge damaged, leaking, or frozen batteries.
  5. Disconnect AC power before connecting/disconnecting clamps.

WARNING! Risk of explosion or acid burn. Follow instructions precisely. Keep away from children.

Installation & Setup

Prepare charger and battery for initial use.

  1. Select location: Dry, stable surface away from heat and moisture.
  2. Prepare battery: Clean terminals; ensure vent caps are secure (if applicable).
  3. Connect clamps: RED to positive (+), BLACK to negative (-) terminal.
  4. Connect AC power: Plug into 120V AC outlet after clamps are secure.
  5. Automatic start: Charger will detect voltage and begin appropriate charge cycle.

CAUTION! Never connect clamps in reverse order. Ensure firm terminal contact.

Specifications

Controls and Indicators

Front Panel: AC Power LED (Green), Charging LED (Red), Maintenance LED (Green), Fault LED (Red).

Operation: Fully automatic; no user controls beyond connection.

LED Status Guide:
- AC Power (Green): On when plugged into outlet.
- Charging (Red): Solid during bulk/absorption charging stages.
- Maintenance (Green): Floats battery at full charge; indicates completion.
- Fault (Red): Lights for reverse polarity, bad battery, or over-temperature.

Charging Procedures

For 12V or 6V batteries (automatic detection).

  1. Ensure battery is in a safe, ventilated location.
  2. Connect RED clamp to positive (+) battery terminal.
  3. Connect BLACK clamp to negative (-) battery terminal or vehicle chassis ground.
  4. Plug AC cord into wall outlet. AC Power LED will light.
  5. Charging LED will light red. Charger begins multi-stage process automatically.
  6. When Charging LED turns off and Maintenance LED lights green, battery is fully charged and in float maintenance.
  7. To disconnect: Unplug AC cord first, then remove BLACK clamp, then RED clamp.

Tip: For deeply discharged batteries, charger may take several hours to complete full cycle.

Maintenance Mode

Float mode maintains battery indefinitely after full charge.

Note: Monitor battery periodically. Disconnect if not used for extended periods.

Care & Storage

Unplug and clean after each use. Store in dry location.

  1. Wipe casing with dry cloth. Do not use liquids or solvents.
  2. Inspect clamps and cables for damage before each use.
  3. Store in original box or protective case in a cool, dry place.
  4. Keep clamps from touching each other during storage.

CAUTION! Do not expose to rain or moisture. Do not disassemble casing.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
No LED lights when plugged inNo AC powerCheck outlet; ensure cord is fully inserted; try different outlet.
Fault LED lights (Red)Reverse polarity / Bad batteryDisconnect, verify clamp polarity (+ to +, - to -). Test battery voltage.
Charging LED does not lightDeeply discharged batteryLeave connected; charger may need time to initiate. If >24 hrs, replace battery.
Battery gets hot during chargingOvercharging / Faulty batteryDisconnect immediately. Check battery for shorted cells; replace if damaged.
Maintenance LED does not come onIncomplete charge cycleAllow more time. For old batteries, may not reach full float voltage.
Spark when connecting clampsNormal for some loadsEnsure clamps touch terminals firmly and quickly. Connect negative last.

Reset: Unplug AC cord, disconnect clamps, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect in correct order.
